Each of the separate letters at the opening of Surahs, when the letter is pronounced in full, consisting of three letters the second of which is a long vowel, and the last letter has no short vowel and must be fully realised, not assimilated in the following separate letter. For example: the opening verses of Surahs 38 and 68, starting with the separate letters ṣ and n, respectively.
