A word which Islam has applied to a meaning. Prior to Islam, linguists had associated it with a particular meaning, but no word was commonly known to refer to it except in religious texts, such as the word abb in the Qur'an: ‘wa fākihatan wa abba’ (80:31) the meaning it signifies was known to people, but the word was not used before.
