The employee appointed by the ruler or his deputy to collect due Zakah (obligatory charities) from people.
"Mūsaddiq" (Zakah collector) is the person sent by the ruler or his deputy to collect Zakah from property owners and distribute it among those who deserve it according to the Shariah. He is also called "jābee", "sā‘ee", and "‘āmil ‘ala az-Zakah". For someone to become a "musaddiq", he must be Muslim, free, just, and well-versed in the rulings of Zakah, i.e. he knows what he should take and whom he should give it to.
"Mūsaddiq": the one who collects Zakah. Derived from "tasadduq", which means giving charity.
