A religious movement that spread in the Muslim world in the third century of the Hijri calendar [the tenth century], as individual preferences advocating asceticism and hard worship, then moved from extreme asceticism, which is unacceptable in Islam, to deviant beliefs and types of glorification and worship and ultimately to belief in carnation, union with God and pantheism. Thus the movement overlapped with some pagan philosophies.
