كلمة (الرقيب) في اللغة صفة مشبهة على وزن (فعيل) بمعنى (فاعل) أي:...
A trait that leads one to be deluded by some worldly gains and give up doing righteous deeds.
"Ghuroor" (delusion) is a bad trait that causes one’s deeds to be rendered worthless, and is extremely detrimental to one’s religion and worldly life. It is when someone is deluded by the favors that Allah has bestowed upon him such as wealth or high status, or by lust or by the devil, so he admires his deeds and worship and becomes over-impressed by himself and looks down upon others. So he combines two negative things: feeling proud by the favor while forgetting to be grateful towards Allah. Also mocking and disparaging others.
"Ghuroor": delusion and deception. Original meaning: decrease. Other meanings: cheating, causing confusion.
To deceive, either oneself or others, and what it causes and leads to.
