A description of a narrator indicating that he certainly lies in normal people’s conversation, but not confirmed to lie in narrating hadiths, or that he was the only one to narrate a false hadith which violates the general rules. The term is one of the third degree of unacceptability. Hadiths of this grade are not accepted either as evidence or for reconfirmation. The hadiths narrated by one who is described by this term are described as matrūk, or discarded.
