A Shia sect ascribed to Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al-Hasan, who claim that he is the Imam and awaited Mahdi.
"Al-Muhammadiyyah": The Shia Rafidites have split into many sects, one of which is "Al-Muhammadiyyah", who believe that the Imam and awaited Mahdi is Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib, whom they call Muhammad, the Purified Soul. They believe that he is still alive and never died, living in a hideaway in the mountain of Hājir in Najd. They believe that he will reappear and fill the earth with justice and that people will pledge allegiance to him between the Yemeni corner and the Station of Ibrāhim (Abraham) at the Ka‘bah. Then he will resurrect seventeen men with him and give each of them one of the letters of the glorified name. They will then defeat all the armies and conquer the earth. "Al-Muhammadiyyah" also claim that the man whom the soldiers of Caliph Al-Mansoor killed in Madinah was not Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al-Hasan but he was a devil who assumed his image.
