الحميد
(الحمد) في اللغة هو الثناء، والفرقُ بينه وبين (الشكر): أن (الحمد)...
A special elongation to emphasise the negation of partners with God. It occurs in the statement of God’s oneness. Its duration is twice the normal length of the vowel ā, and it is reported to be used by the variant recitations that permit the non-elongation of the munfaṣil vowel. It is also attributed to Ḥafṣ in Ibn al-Jazarī’s Tayyibat al-Nashr route, but not in al-Shāṭibiyyah route. It is also called the ‘exaggerated elongation’, as in Allah lā ilāha illā hū (2: 255).
