An extremist Shiite sect who followed a man called Al-Mugheerah ibn Sa‘eed al-‘Ijli. He advocated "tashbeeh" (claiming that Allah resembles His creation), alleged that he was a prophet, and declared as lawful what is unlawful in Islam.
"Al-Mugheeriyyah" is an extremist Shiite sect. They are the followers of Al-Mugheerah ibn Sa‘eed al-‘Ijli, who used to say that the one who is worshiped has body parts, and that his body parts are in the shape of the letters of the alphabet. When he first emerged, he used to claim his allegiance to the Imāmiyyah sect, and he advocated the leadership of Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Hasan ibn al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali. When he became prominent among the Shiites, he claimed prophethood for himself. He also claimed that he knew Allah's greatest name and that he uses it to resurrect the dead and defeat armies. He used to say that his god was a man made of light with a crown of light on his head – far exalted is Allah above such falsehood. He fabricated many heinous myths with which he deceived his followers. When news of him reached Khalid ibn Abdullah al-Qasri, he crucified him in 119 H. His followers are known today as "Muhammadiyyat-ur-Rawāfid" because of his claim that Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah was an Imam.
An extremist Shia sect, the followers of al-Mughīrah ibn SaꜤīd al-ꜤUjalī who claimed that the Imam who followed ꜤAlī, al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn was Muhammad al-Nafs al-Zakiyyah (died 145 AH 763 CE). He alleged that he was the Mahdī, and that he remained alive and did not die. Later, al-Mughīrah claimed that he succeeded Muhammad as the Imam, and then claimed that he was a prophet. He pronounced some forbidden things as lawful, and added likening God to created beings, saying that God had shape and form.
