Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Taking an oath may sell a commodity but it takes (the blessing) away from the earnings."

شرح الحديث :

In this Hadīth, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) warns against belittling the issue of taking frequent oaths to promote one's goods and earning a living. When a seller makes a false oath to sell his goods, the buyer may believe that he is telling the truth due to the oaths he takes and thereby agree to buy an overpriced commodity. In such a case, the buyer will be punished by removing the blessings from his earnings and probably his capital too, because provisions are from Allah, the Almighty, and cannot be attained by disobeying Him. Moreover, frequent oath taking means that one does not attribute to Allah, the Almighty, due grandeur, and that contradicts the monotheism.
