Six groups of the descendants of Hāshim, an ancestor of the Prophet, who may not take charity. These are the progeny of ꜤAlī, JaꜤfar and ꜤAqīl, sons of the prophet’s uncle Abu Ṭālib, and also the progeny of his uncles ꜤAbbās, al-Ḥārith and Abu Lahab, the sons of his grandfather ꜤAbd al-Muṭṭalib. It is also said that the prophet’s wives were also members of his household.
