Alteration of the meaning of a word in the hadith text. For example, Muhammad ibn al-Muthannā said: ‘we are honourable people. We belong to Ꜥanazah, and God's Messenger (peace be upon him) prayed to us’. He thought that the word Ꜥanazah refers to the tribe he belonged to, which was called Ꜥanazah, while in the hadith the word means a stick placed in front of a person offering a prayer as a cover.
