‘Abdullāh ibn Az-Zubayr reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) judged that the two litigants should sit in front of the arbitrator.
This Hadīth indicates a judicial etiquette that a judge should adhere to. The judge should have the adversaries sit in front of him to maintain justice in the session. He should also look at them and listen to them fairly. He should not favor one party over the other. He should rather deal justly with both of them in all respects.
