The followers of the religion God bestowed from on high on Jesus (peace be upon him), and their revealed book is the Injīl, or Gospel. In Arabic they are called naṣārā, after al-Nāṣirah, or Nazareth, the town in Palestine where Jesus was born, or the Arabic name could be derived from naṣara, which means ‘to give support’ as they were the ones who supported Jesus (peace be upon him).
