The first stage of sleep, where the senses become weak and unaware of what is going on around them.
"Nu‘ās" (drowsiness) is the first stage of sleep. It is also known as "sinah", i.e. a state in which a person is in need of sleep, so his senses, like his hearing, sight and others, start to experience weakness in perceiving what is going on around them. For example, a drowsy person may hear what is being said by his companion but not understand it.
"Nu‘ās": the beginning of sleep. It is called as such because the senses become weak and feeble in it. Original meaning: weakness, deficiency. Other meanings: a little amount of sleep.
The start of feeling sleepy. When one feels drowsy, he is not confused about most of what is being said around him.
