The long vowel ī which is added in verbal recitation, but not written in the copies of the Qur'an using the ꜤUthmānī script. It occurs in nouns as in ilad-dāꜤī (54: 6) and also in verbs, as in idhā yasrī (89: 4). In the variant recitations of ibn Kathīr, Hishām and YaꜤqūb, a long vowel ī is added to such words, although it is not written.
