التعريف
A description of a narrator implying that no accreditation or rejection has been confirmed, whether only one narrator reports from him (unknown in person) or more than one (status unknown) or he appears of good character (merely unknown). It is a term of the sixth degree, the least of unacceptable grades. Hadiths narrated by people of this grade are written for reconfirmation, not as main evidence.
