"Those who succeed the prophets in knowledge and action
الشرح المختصر
"Abdāl" (followers of prophets) are the righteous people of knowledge and religion who adopt the knowledge and deeds [of the prophets] and call to them with patience, certitude, and full trust in Allah. They are called as such because they succeed the prophets and messengers, and change what was bad in their character, deeds, and beliefs to the good. This rank is not restricted to a specific number of people or a specific place, and will never cease until the Day of Judgment.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر
"Abdāl" (sing. badal): someone or something that takes the place of another It is derived from "ibdāl" which means putting something in the place of or instead of another "Badal": alternative, substitute, recompense "Tabdeel": change.
