A sect of Mutazilites following `Ali al-Aswaari.
الشرح المختصر
"Aswaariyyah" is a Mutazilite subdivision following `Ali al-Aswaari (d. 240 AH). Al-Aswaari was a follower of Abu al-Hudhayl. He shifted to the school of Al-Nazhzhaam. Even worse than him in heresy, he said: "Everything of which Allah knew that it would not occur was not divinely predetermined." In other words: "Allah has no power over what He said or knew to be nonexistent, whereas man does."
