Repeating the praises of Allah the Almighty frequently and enumerating them by mentioning His attributes of beauty and praiseworthy actions.
"Thanā" (Praise) is doing what gives an impression of absolute glorification, or mentioning commendable traits of the praised one and reporting them out of glorification, whether this is done by the tongue, the heart, or the limbs, and whether it is done in recompense to something or not. It includes praise, gratitude, and commendation. Praising Allah the Almighty should be done with what Allah has affirmed for Himself or what has been affirmed for Him by His Messenger, may Allah"s peace and blessings be upon him, of His attributes of perfection and beauty.
"Ath-Thanā": what a person is described with, whether praise or dispraise. Derived from "thany" which means twisting, and folding something upon itself.
