The angels who are entrusted with carrying the Throne of Allah in this world and the Hereafter, by the will and power of Allah, the Almighty.
"Hamalat al-‘Arsh" (bearers of the Throne) are the angels entrusted with carrying the Throne of Allah. Allah, the Almighty, granted them the ability to do so with His will and power; otherwise, they could never have endured it. They are eight angels, as Allah, the Almighty, said: {And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].} [Al-Hāqqah: 17] Some scholars said that in this world, "hamalat al-‘Arsh" are only four, but their number will increase to eight on the Day of Judgement. Ibn Katheer considered this opinion preponderant, and so did Ibn al-Jawzi, who ascribed it to the majority of the scholars. The angels carrying and surrounding the Throne of Allah are among the most honorable angels. Some Hadiths and reports mentioned some of their descriptions. For example, it was mentioned that the distance between the earlobes and the shoulders of one of those angels is equivalent to the distance covered in seven hundred years.
