المعنى الاصطلاحي

Books of Hadith that include Hadiths related to juristic rulings and many citations reported from the Companions and "Tābi‘is" (generation following that of the Companions).

الشرح المختصر

"Mūsannafāt" (sectionally-arranged Hadith collections) are a type of Hadith compilations. They mostly include Hadiths that involve juristic rulings arranged in the order of juristic books and sections. They include many traditions and fatwas of the Companions, "Tābi‘is" (generation following that of the Companions), and their successors.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Mūsannafāt" (sing. mussanaf): distinguished. It is derived from "tasneef", which means distinction or diversification. "Sinf" means type.
