"Awwaliyyaat" are certain, necessary premises. They are known to be the primary principles. OR they are issues that can be easily conceived and decided on. OR they are the self-evident matters that humans know by nature, such as the fire being hot. OR they are obvious ideas and issues that impose themselves on the intellect. They do not require speculation or acquisition through tuition or experience.
"Awwaliyyaat" (sing. awwali): the beginning of something.
Purely rational questions that reason naturally accepts, without recourse to the senses or imagination.
