A group of people who label the Muslim sinners as unbelievers and rebel against the Muslim rulers and the Muslim community.
"Khawaarij" (Kharijites) is a deviant sect that emerged in (37 A.H.) during the caliphate of `Ali ibn Abi Taalib, may Allah be pleased with him, after the Battle of Siffeen. When `Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, accepted arbitration, they bitterly condemned him and labeled him as an unbeliever, saying: ''judgement belongs to none but Allah.'' They later divided into several sects. Major deviant beliefs: 1- Judging `Ali ibn Abi Taalib, `Uthmaan ibn `Affaan, and the two arbitrators as unbelievers. 2- The obligation to rebel against the Muslim rulers who are involved into corruption and injustice. 3- Committing major sins is tantamount to disbelief and leads to eternal Hell.
"Khawaarij" (sing. khaariji): what is protruding. "Khurooj": protrusion, emergence. Opposite: "dukhool" (getting into).
