A measure of weight or volume which has three types: Egyptian, Syrian and Iraqi.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


A unit for measuring weight.

الشرح المختصر :


"Ritl" is one of the units used to estimate the weight of a "saa‘" in Islamic Fiqh (jurisprudence). According to the scholars of Fiqh, it is of two types: "ritl Shaami" and "ritl ‘Iraaqi". When the term "ritl" is used in Islamic Fiqh, it refers to the "ritl ‘Iraaqi", which is equivalent to approximately four hundred and seven grams (407 grams) in contemporary weight. As for the "ritl Shaami", which is also called "Dimashqi", it is valued at six-hundred dirhams, and scholars of Fiqh do not use it to estimate weight.
