turning away (الصّرْفَة)

God has turned the Arabs away from producing something similar to the Qur'an, keeping it a miracle like all other miracles. Had he not done so, they would have produced a similar book. This term is attributed to Ibrāhīm ibn Sayyār al-Naẓẓām of the MuꜤtazilah.
