الجبار
الجَبْرُ في اللغة عكسُ الكسرِ، وهو التسويةُ، والإجبار القهر،...
Assimilation in which leading reciters differ, with some approving the assimilation and others preferring the realisation of the sound to be assimilated. It occurs in five cases: 1) the dh sound of the word idh; 2) the d sound of the word qad; 3) the t sound marking the feminine gender; 4) the l sound of the words hal, bal; and 5) certain sounds having close places of articulation. This type of assimilation is called ‘acceptable’ because it is allowed in some variants of recitation but not in others. In the Ḥafṣ variant, no assimilation occurs in any of these cases.
