minor assimilation (الإِدْغَامُ الصَّغِير)

علوم القرآن

التعريف :

The case of assimilation where the first sound, which is to be assimilated, is not followed by a short vowel [i.e. ḥarakah]. It has three categories: 1) obligatory, as in rabiḥat tijāratuhum (2:16); 2) unacceptable, as in aḍlaltum (25:17); and 3) acceptable. This category applies to assimilating the last sound of one word with the first sound of the next, as in man yaꜤmal (4:123).
