Intentional opposition of the truth and non-acceptance of it while knowing that it is the truth.
"`Inaad" (obstinacy) is an ugly characteristic and one of the characteristics of Satan, Pharaoh, etc. It is to reject the truth and refrain from following it even though one knows it is the truth. Jews were characterized by it because they denied the descriptions of the the Prophet Muhammad that they found in their scriptures, so they refused to believe in him while they were commanded to believe in him. By doing this they chose the punishment of the Hellfire. So their rabbis acted obstinately and their ignorants followed the footsteps of their rabbis.
"`Inaad": opposition, non-acceptance, deviation from the truth. "Mu`aanid": the one who opposes the truth and acts contrary to it. Original meaning: crookedness, inclination, deviation.
A functional mental disorder distinguished by limitation to one subject.
