المعنى الاصطلاحي

A name of an Islamic unit of measurement equivalent to 12 Sā‘s, and in modern units is equal to 33 liters or 26 kilograms.

الشرح المختصر

"Qafeez" is an Islamic measure of weight and volume used in many Shariah rulings. It was common in Iraq during the Islamic ages, and it is equal to 12 Sā‘s, i.e. 33 liters.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Qafeez": an old measure used in Iraq, equal to eight Makkook (1 Makkook= 1.5 Sā‘). "Qafeez" also refers to a unit for measuring length and area equal to 144 cubits. Other meanings: a place for storing grain.

التعريف

A measure of volume which is equal to twelve ṣāꜤs. In weight, it is equal to 26.064 Kilograms according to the majority of scholars, but according to the Ḥanafī scholars, it is equal to 39.138 Kilograms.
