the imperative ‘l’ (لاَمُ الْأَمْر)

An ‘l’ added before a present tense verb to give the imperative form. It is preceded by a conjunctive, which is normally ‘fa’, ‘wa’ or ‘thumma’. This ‘l’ must be realised. Among its examples: ‘wa lyakhsha’ ‘falyattaqu’ (4: 9).
