Abu Ya‘la Shaddād ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A wise person is the one who calls himself to account and works for what is after death, whereas the weak and incapable person is the one who follows his own whims and engages in wishful thinking about Allah."

A sensible Muslim calls himself to account in a prompt manner and works for the afterlife, because his stay in this world is only temporary, and his permanent abode will be after death. A weak person, on the other hand, follows his own desires and devotes all his attention to worldly matters.
