الرقية الشرعية
‘Abdullāh ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Ruqyahs, Tamā'im, and Tiwalah are polytheism.”
عن عبد الله بن مسعود -رضي الله عنه- قال: سمعت رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- يقول: "إن الرقى والتمائم والتِّوَلَة شرك".
شرح الحديث :
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informs us that using these things with the intention of removing harm, or bringing about benefit from others than Allah is polytheism. This is because no one is able to harm or benefit except Allah, the Almighty. This report indicates the prohibition of such acts. Ruqyahs are also called ‘Azā'im (enchantments), and Tamā'im are amulets or charms made from beads and the like and are hung around children's necks. Tiwalah is made to make one of the spouses love the other. All these things constitute polytheism, which means associating partners with Allah.
