المسح على الخفين ونحوهما
Al-Mughīrah ibn Shu‘bah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Once I was in the company of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey and I bent down to take off his leather socks, but he asked me to leave them as he had put them on after performing ablution. So, he wiped over them.
عن المغيرة بن شعبة -رضي الله عنه- قال: ((كُنت مع النبيَّ -صلَّى الله عليه وسلَّم- في سَفَر، فأهْوَيت لِأَنزِع خُفَّيه، فقال: دَعْهُما؛ فإِنِّي أدخَلتُهُما طَاهِرَتَين، فَمَسَح عليهما)).
شرح الحديث :
Al-Mughīrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, which was the battle of Tabūk. When the Messenger (may Allah be pleased with him) began to make ablution, washed his face and arms, and wiped over his head, Al-Mughīrah bent down to take off the Messenger’s leather socks so that he could wash his feet. The Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) told him to leave the leather socks and not to take them off, because he put them on after performing ablution. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) then wiped over his leather socks instead of washing his feet. The same ruling applies to the socks and the like.
