"Wisāl" (continuous fasting) is when a person fasts from dawn time and does not break his fast at night. Instead, he continues fasting the next day, and so on. This is called "wisāl" because a person who does so connects one fast with another without any break in between. Some scholars divided it into two types: 1. Major "wisāl": when a person fasts for two or more consecutive days without breaking the fast in between. This is the intended meaning when the term "wisāl" is referred to generally. 2. Minor "wisāl": when a person continues to fast and breaks his fast shortly before dawn.
