A hadith in which the scholar has replaced one narrator by another of the same category, or narrated its text with a chain of transmission belonging to a different text, or changed the order of the name of one of its narrators, intentionally or unintentionally. It occurs in three different forms: 1) the name of the narrator is given in the wrong order; 2) replacing a narrator known to have narrated a particular hadith by another narrator of the same class or category; and 3) narrating the text of a particular hadith with the chain of transmission of a different hadith and narrating this other hadith with the chain of transmission of the original hadith.
