Abu Qatādah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) hated prayer in the middle of the day, except on Fridays. He said: "Hell is heated up (at this time,) except on Fridays."

شرح الحديث :

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) made it unlawful to perform voluntary prayers when the sun is at its zenith, except on Fridays. He clarified the reason why he forbade praying during this time, by saying that Hell is ignited and heated up at that time, except on Fridays. The hatred in the texts means forbiddance. If something is hated or detested, it means that it is forbidden, such as in the saying of Allah, the Exalted: ﴿All that - its evil is ever, in the sight of your Lord, detested.﴾ [Sūrat al-Isrā’: 38]
