المعنى الاصطلاحي
A Hadith that is narrated by a weak narrator, opposing thereby the narration of a reliable narrator.
الشرح المختصر
"Munkar" (denounced) is a type of weak Hadiths. It is an odd narration that counters a narration of a trustworthy narrator, such as the opposition of Maalik to other credible narrators. Opposite to it is the "ma`roof" Hadith, which is narrated by a reliable narrator in opposition to a weak narrator.

''Munkar'': unknown. It is derived from "inkaar", which means ignorance of something. Other meanings: denied, rejected, belied, ugly.

Whatever Islam considers as repugnant, prohibits it and order its removal. The opposite is right.
