An Islamic religious group which is closer in its make-up to Sufi traditions than organised movements. It was established by Shaykh SaꜤīd al-Nūrsī, nicknamed BadīꜤ al-Zamān. Its founder attached great emphasis on the essence of faith, soul purification and the establishment of an Islamic trend that tries to stop the secular tide that swept turkey after the collapse of the ottoman caliphate. He advocated abandoning all political activity, considering it as part of Satan’s deception.
