Yazidism (الْيَزِيدِيَّة)

العقيدة

التعريف :

An apostate sect established by ꜤUday ibn Musāfir al-Umawī, a descendant of Marwān ibn al-Ḥakam. He was a disciple of ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jaylānī. The Yazidis live in the area of Wadi Lālish in Iraq. They ascribe divinity to Yazīd and they venerate Satan. They have a different creed concerning the pillars of Islam, and their own festivities and worships. They have two holy books al-Jalwah and Muṣḥaf Rashsh or the Black Book. They disapprove of cursing Iblīs in the Qur'an. Therefore, they scratch every word that means a curse or Satan or seeking refuge. They venerate Iblīs, believing that he was the true unitarian, as he never prostrated himself to anyone other than God. They further believe that ꜤUday ibn Musāfir al-Umawī will be the one who holds people to account on the day of judgement and he will take his followers into heaven.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :

One of the "Ibādiyyah" sects. They are followers of Yazeed ibn Unaysah. He claimed that Allah, the Almighty, will send a prophet from the non-Arabs and will reveal an entire book to him all at once.

الشرح المختصر :

"Al-Yazeediyyah" is a deviant sect that emerged in 132 AH, after the collapse of the Umayyad State. It was founded by Yazeed ibn Unaysah. Some of his false beliefs: 1. Allah, the Almighty, will send a non-Arab prophet and reveal a book that was written in heaven to him, and it will be revealed to him all at once. 2. He left the Shariah of Muhammad, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and adhered to a different law. 2. He allowed visiting shrines and graves. 3. They hold a different belief regarding each of the five pillars of Islam. 4. He claimed that the messenger who will be sent by Allah will be of the Sabian faith, which is not the popular one today nor the one mentioned by Allah, the Almighty, in the Qur’an.
