The ascension of ‘Isā (Jesus), peace be upon him, with his soul and body to the second heaven, as per the command of Allah, the Exalted, out of showing mercy to him and honoring him.
"Ar-raf‘ ilā as-samā’" ("ar-raf‘ ilā as-samā’"): Ahl-us-Sunnah wa al-Jamā‘ah believe that the Messiah, ‘Isā (Jesus), the son of Maryam, peace be upon him, did not die but was raised to the heaven and will descend at the end of time as a just judge among the Muslim community. He will kill the Dajjāl (Antichrist), break the cross, cancel the "jizyah" (per capita yearly tax historically levied by Islamic states on certain non-Muslim subjects permanently residing in Muslim lands under Islamic law), and then die. This is what the Qur’an and authentic Hadiths indicate. Allah, the Exalted, informs in His Book that He raised him to show him mercy and honor him, as He saved him from being killed and crucified. He made that one of the signs which He gives to whomever of His Messengers He wills, and one of the major signs of the Hour.
