Selling or buying something wholesale without estimation by measuring, weighing, or counting.
"Bay‘ al-juzāf" (sale without estimation) is a type of sale that is permitted under Islamic law to avoid inconveniences, due to ambiguity of the amount of the commodity, because it is from the conditions of a valid transaction that the amount be known and specific. It is to sell or buy something wholesale without estimating it. This applies to dry, measurable, countable, and weighable commodities as well as those measurable by length. Examples of this transaction include selling a pile of foodstuff without knowing its weight or volume, selling a flock of livestock without knowing the number of animals, selling a plot of land without knowing its dimensions, and selling a piece of fabric without knowing its measurements.
