Squeeze of the body of the dead person by the two sides of the grave.
الشرح المختصر
"Dammat al-qabr" (squeeze of the grave) is the first thing that the deceased person experiences in the world of the "Barzakh" (barrier) after he is placed in his grave. No one is exempted from it, whether old or young. However, people differ in this according to their deeds. The believer experiences the squeeze of the grave as a punishment for what he has committed in this world, and it is a means for having his sins forgiven. The grave becomes tight and narrow for the believer, and then it releases him. The squeeze of the grave for the righteous believer is different from that of the sinner. The squeeze of the latter is stronger than the squeeze of the former, and its strength depends on the degree of the latter’s sin. As for the disbeliever, the squeeze of his grave lasts long and is continuous and eternal - and refuge is to be sought with Allah.
