Disparaging any part of the religion of Islam and criticizing its rulings.
"Ta‘n fee ad-deen" (libeling Islam) is a crime and a nullifier of faith that is committed by insulting any part of this religion in words, deeds, or beliefs. "Ta‘n fee ad-deen" is of two kinds: 1. To attack the religion which Allah has revealed. This has many forms, such as: a) Spreading the innovations of the destructive schools of thought and deviant sects which are based on myth and immoderation. b) Raising doubts in religious texts and established axioms of the religion. c) Calling to the freedom of religion and to equality of all religions. d) Issuing laws that contradict the laws of Islam and discarding the rulings of the Islamic Shariah. 2. To attack the religion of a person or a group by accusing them of being infidels or innovators, such as cursing the messengers of Allah; the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them; and the recognized Imams from among the scholars. The second type is not of the same degree.
