المعنى الاصطلاحي

State of being inarticulate and unable to understand the meaning of words fully.

الشرح المختصر

"‘Ujmah" (inability to speak or understand Arabic properly) is one of the major reasons for failing to understand the truth as reported from Allah, the Exalted, and His Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. Failing to understand the meanings of the Arabic language and ignorance of its connotations and secrets have led some people to resort to distorting the texts and producing false interpretations of them. Thus, the innovated statements that the Qur’an was created and that the believers will not see their Lord in the Hereafter emerged, as well as denying the attributes of Allah, in addition to other issues which were not understood properly due to ignorance of the Arabic language and the prevalence of "‘ujmah".

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"‘Ujmah": inarticulateness. Original meaning denotes silence and refraining from speaking. "A‘jami": an inarticulate person who cannot speak properly or make his speech understood. If an Arab is described to have "‘ujmah", it means that he does not pronounce words properly.
