الشرح المختصر :

"Al-`Ahd al-Qadeem": (The Old Testament) is essentially a religious material for the People of Israel. It contains their beliefs, laws, and religious concepts. It also contains the history of the Hebrew Prophets, their mission, and the statements that their students ascribed to them. Part of it is a historical material that covers the era from the beginning of creation to the twelfth century BC. The Old Testament ends with the Books of Wisdom, called "the Writings", which add a literary element to the religious and the historical material, because it is composed of stories and narratives. The Old Testament is comprised of thirty nine books: 1. Books of Law: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. 2. Historical Books: Twelve books. 3. Poetical Books: Five books. 4. Prophetical Books: Seventeen books.
