المعنى الاصطلاحي

One of Jewish sects ascribed to Ishaaq ibn Ya`qoob al-Asfahaani, who claimed to be a Prophet and the awaited Messiah of the Jews.

الشرح المختصر

"Al-`Isawiyyah" (a Jewish sect) are the followers of Ishaaq ibn Ya`qoob, known as Abu `Isa al-Asfahaani, who claimed to be a Prophet and the awaited Messiah of the Jews. Moreover, he claimed that Allah, the Almighty, had talked to him and sent him to save the Children of Israel from captivity. So he enlisted an army of ten thousand men to achieve his objectives. However, he was defeated and killed in the Battle of Rayy. "Al-`Isawiyyah" believe that Allah sent Jesus to the Children of Israel, as mentioned in the Gospel, and that Jesus is an Israelite Prophet. Meanwhile, Allah sent Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, with the laws of the Qur'an to the children of Ismail and the rest of Arabs. Other beliefs: "Al-`Isawiyyah" forbid eating slaughtered animals and every animal that has a soul. They enjoin ten prayers on their followers and abolished divorce. They also enacted other laws that contradict the laws of the Torah.
