baring one’s right shoulder (الاضْطِبَاعُ)

التعريف :


To put one’s garment under his right shoulder and its two ends over his left shoulder, leaving his right shoulder exposed.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


Wrapping the upper garment of the Ihram attire under the right armpit and rolling the two edges over the left arm, so that the right shoulder is exposed and the left is covered. This is done by the male pilgrim in Hajj or ‘Umrah before he starts to make Tawaf around the Ka‘bah.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :


"Idtibā‘": It is derived from "dab‘" which means inserting one"s garment under his right arm and then throws its ends over his left shoulder, exposing his right shoulder.
