المعنى الاصطلاحي
A child, whether male or female, young or old.
الشرح المختصر
"Walad" (child/offspring) is the common noun referring to the child or offspring of humans or animals. It includes males and females, young and old, and living or dead. Muslim jurists divide children into the following categories: 1. Biological "walad", resulting from childbirth, and this is a person's actual "walad". 2. Milk "walad", or "walad" from breastfeeding, which is the "walad" that was fully suckled by a non-related woman (full suckling means 5 breast-feedings in the first two years of life). There are other categories of "walad", such as a "walad" from adultery, a "walad" from mutual repudiation, and others.
