the faṣl or separation ā sound (أَلِفُ الفَصْل)

علوم القرآن

التعريف :

The ā sound inserted between two glottal stops whether both are realised or the second is partially realised, as in ʾaʾimat al-kufr (9: 12) in Hishām’s variant, as he inserts the ā sound between the two realised glottal stops. Another example is ʾaʾinnakum (6: 19), where some reciters elongate the vowel a after the first glottal stop, making it ā, and soften the second glottal stop making it partially realised.
